Law colleges do not think 6 months is enough time to EVEN teach the Indian Penal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, and the Indian Evidence Act. But our #Committee will study all 3 laws and recommend reforms in just 6 months. #DisbandtheCommittee #notthisway Criminal Law Reforms Committee

If the committee truly wants to "modernise colonial laws" its process is at odds with its aim. 5 UC men to decide the fate of 1.3 billion under the garb of sham online public consultations in english and a tearing hurry to reform the law in 6 months. #DisbandtheCommittee

That is why law reform processes world over, and in India (in the past) have allowed for wide public consultations before such reform is undertaken. Why no consultation this time? Why the hurry to reform during a pandemic? #DisbandtheCommittee

1800 emails sent to PIB - Ministry of Home Affairs Amit Shah Richard Friedman opposing this opaque, exclusionary law reform process and demanding that the committee be disbanded. We acknowledge and support the need for law reform- but we demand that process is democratic ! #DisbandtheCommittee
