58 years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called on Congress to act with the "urgency of now." Today we stood at the very spot he did 58 years ago echoing his demands once more. We're done waiting. The Senate needs to abolish the filibuster and protect our right to vote.

Feeling numb to these unequal acts toward Black people. Paul Gorski is one of my favorite Anti-racist educators and I respect him. He gives me the ability to see oppressions can intersect on the fabric of oppression. But isn't 40 yrs too long for an innocent man?

People are more mentally affected by the stress of what's happening in this country than we think. Some groups get a pass. Not all. This is not coincidental. This is rooted in systemic racism. Why did the N word come to his consciousness so quickly? Hate is a learned emotion.

You can't make this stuff up! Tiring to be Black on a normal day. White friend: "It wasn't because you were Black. You probably turned around and looked. The officer got suspicious." Me: "No, it was the color of my skin." White friend: "That can't be why." Just believe me!

My father was a Pullman Porter for 30+ years. He was a member of the BSCP, an all-Black labor union. Taught me how to fight for the rights denied us, the leader of my NAACP Youth Group. He said, "Love who you are. You can be anything you want to be. Don't give up!" My hero!

Muslim students wanted to get facts out there during this time because there was so much misinformation about the Muslim Faith. A group of Parkway students held panel discussions, cleared up myths from facts. Spoke to students, adm, and even parents. Students were uninformed.
