It’s like the offspring of Munich, Athens and Dorney with a bit of Caversham thrown in. Nasty little crosswind which Greg Searle says was here when he won the JM4- gold at the 1989 juniors on the same course. Beautiful big return/warm-up lake and good permanent facilities.

Absolutely, the Bosbaan & Duisburg are the two oldest man-made rowing courses. They both had vertical sides (under water profile) which magnifies the centrifugal water circulation effect compared with Svetla-era designs specifying a shelving angle to the sides-forgotten - 35deg?

Worst example is the London Docks, because they are 40ft deep vertical walls - I ran hundreds of trials there before Dorney & Caversham, & take account of significant water circulation, let alone wind!

Bring on Coastal Offshore Endurance Rowing - (4Km-6Km). Coastal is not just about Beach Sprints. The endurance discipline is, and has always been, the real foundation

Penny Chuter (@chuter_penny) 's Twitter Profile Photo

and ethos of coastal rowing, and those in the UK who choose to ignore it, and do nothing to promote or develop more coastal clubs, and more coastal endurance rowing at club level ard foi g the future of our sport a real disservice.

Well done to Kersey Rowing Club for organising an excellent endurance event at short notice, and congratulations to all the members of British clubs who took part, including Carrick RC, Cornwall’s CMix.2x who came 4th in the final only behind 3x GBR coastal squad crews 🚀🚀

Busy day in the mix zone. And hotttttttttttt…. But I learned that World Rowing did ditch the heat/humidity matrix they used to have for a while in the early 2000s and no longer cancel racing or training on that alone. It’s up to countries to heat-acclimatise etc.

Penny Chuter (@chuter_penny) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Regardless of Heat, I do hope that GBR crews do at last shorten-up in order to wind-uk the rate, & really sprint for the line like some other countries who have done already in order to grab a medal. All GBR Crews have shown excellent effective length of stroke, and excellent

Part -2: race-pacing, especially in the 3rd 500m, so I do hope from tomorrow A-Finalists can add a sprint for the line if necessary🤞GOOD LUCK GBR

Absolutely brilliant result😇It would be fun after the OG’s to do a pole on the Addidas Track suits worn by GBR, Germans & Poles I have seen so far! Not on the athletes, but on anyone free to comment! Dare not express my view now - Rowing more important !
