PIP shouldn’t even be in the same conversation as sickness and work. PIP is personal independence payment. It has nothing to do with whether you are working or not working, off sick or not. It has nothing to do with work. It is like Rishi Sunak doesn’t even know this.

I have been active in the BMA for a decade and I have spent much of that time losing. Some of us have stuck at it, and -through organising- have won people to our vision of a fighting union. Now we have the privilege of building it.

My children’s primary school does dance classes in front of a screen. They do maths on an app (& all homework). They learn & practice spelling on an app. They are given iPad time as a treat if they’re good.

Almost none of these are better than the person-based alternative. (1/x)

It’s time for UK medical and political leaderships to change course by:

🔸Restoring doctors’ pay.
🔹Adopting BMA scope nationally for MAPs.
🔸Addressing bottlenecks.

The reality is we are living in mal-developed economies and the transition will be challenging
