After Lori’s terminal cancer diagnosis in July, she was given 15-18 months. Today I give thanks she’s still with us today after two resection surgeries, two separate craniotomies, two craniectomies, a massive stroke, spending weeks in a medically induced coma on vents and

Lori has been sleeping quite a bit this past week, making her feel better slowly day by day. Today was the removal of the 30 or so staples so tomorrow time to finally clean her head post op. She’s still getting 24hr CNA care which is required, and her pain has been managed well

You know it’s one of those days when you have an ugly cry in the hospital cafeteria over a shitty patty melt and Lay’s potato chips.

Hello everyone. I’ve slowed on updates until we had a better idea on the path forward. For the past few weeks our goal has been to bring Lori home. What was standing in the way of that goal was having the next surgery to install a CSF shunt which would continue to bleed off

Lori will be coming home tomorrow at 5pm. Spent an hour will the hospice care nurse getting the details in place for tomorrow, along with getting the hospital aligned. Lori is looking forward to coming home, and I was happy to tell her it came together tomorrow instead of

Lori is doing well resting/sleeping at home under hospice care the past two days. She’s been comfortable with her vitals looking great. While there is a visible pocket of CSF fluid pooling in her cranial cavity, it has stopped getting any larger which is good news. Her cranial

Things have gone smoothly the past few days except for a hiccup where Lori felt quite nauseous Monday morning, but thankfully didn’t get sick. She’s caught up from her ICU sleep deprivation and looking better rested now. Getting verbal responses can be hit and miss, with AM

Lori spiked a fever today which wasn’t mitigated by multiple Tylenol doses, a probable return of the brain infection or pneumonia. The hospice RN has started administrating morphine to keep her comfortable.

Tough day today. Lori declined quite rapidly once the fever broke around 1am this morning. We got to speak to her and say our goodbyes with her being aware. We’re down to only morphine now. Love you guys.

This has been an extremely difficult number of days as Lori moves through the various stages of her journey. She’s been surrounded by friends and family as we work to make her as comfortable as possible. We’re on day 4 of dosing morphine every hour which I’ve been doing during
