Check out latest publication below, using mass spectrometry to measure the hormone Motilin in healthy volunteers. This method will potentially allow motilin profiles to be measured in gastrointestinal patient groups in the future. frontiersin.org/journals/endoc…

Gut hormones are important regulators of appetite, with GLP-1 analogues are now being used to treat obesity. This latest publication looks at how fasting and fed levels of different gut hormones vary in participants with and without obesity. doi.org/10.1016/j.pept…

On Wednesday evening I will be giving my first popular science talk in Cambridge as part of the Pint of Science festival. My talk is on gut hormones and how they are involved in health and disease. Check out the preview below: pintofscience.co.uk/event/you-are-… #pintofscience

Some shots of presenting at pint of science last night! Presentation included a knitted gut, many gut related puns, how ozempic works and how gut hormones may be involved in motility disorders, particularly the under diagnosed condition bile acid malabsorption. #pintofscience

#DDW2024 I am presenting at the DDW today showing how motilin profiles can be measured in healthy volunteers using mass spec, and measure several additional gut peptides simultaneously. Check out the work here, and in the poster hall at 12:30. eposters.ddw.org/ddw/2024/ddw-2…

#DDW2024 I am presenting at the DDW today showing how the hormone INSL5 is raised in patients with bile acid diarrhoea and a subset of patients with IBS, with INSL5 levels correlating with symptom severity.
