Type II PVR - Part of the wall is excised but primary closure (type I) is not feasible. The patch recon is more tedious than end to end recon. Hence most suitable cases are lateral/posterior wall involvements at the level of S-P confluence as splenic vein can be preserved. 3/9

Transplant Surgeon Dr Taina Lee from Westmead Surgery talks about assessment of surgical risk in new recipients for kidney transplantation. TSANZ Great to hear the surgeons' perspective on what it is like to carry the burden of high operative risk.

Surgeons tend to know to stay above Rouviere's sulcus during cholecystectomy. Few non-HPB surgeons truly appreciate why. This robotic chole using ICG cholangiography shows the relationship of the right hepatic duct to this landmark.

Read this interesting systematic review and meta-analysis on renal outcomes from uncontrolled donation after circulatory death, the conclusions of which are promising in the long run, probably the way forward and decreases the organ discard#tinyurl.com/33rxzarz

Uncommon but simple procedure many may not have seen. Lap fenestration of lymphocele. Recurrent extraperitoneal fluid collections after ALIF surgery for the spine. Hx of multiple perc drains. Clinically a tense tender bulge in the LLQ. No recurrence 3 months post lap fenestration

🧵regarding 'instrument tying' of knots. Instrument tying is a basic technique of tying surgical knots that is often used as an alternative to hand tying (which we've covered in previous 🧵). As usual, we'll go the basic technique and also look at some other caveats. (1/ )

Using an exoscope camera to record open surgeries in a sterile manner, just like we do with laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. Nice technology to enhance visualization for the team and record videos of complex Hepatobiliary and Transplant resections and reconstructions.
