New episode of Risking Enchantment up today. Chloe Colla and I discuss Old English Easter poems including Dream of the Rood and The Descent into Hell. Big thank you to the Eleanor Parker blog for the inspiration. Link in bio or on your podcast app.

A game of #TwitterSaintTournament We have compiled a list of 40 saints, 20 men & 20 women, with some local & universal favourites, with 3 rounds spread over the next few days (see thread). Who will be crowned Tournament King/Queen? (Mary not competing for obvious reasons)

This brooch is one 2 and was found by a metal detectorist in 2004 at Cumwhitton near #Carlisle. It was the first sign of a #Viking cemetery, holding 6 graves. Our #VikingsRevealed gallery tells the story alongside the amazing finds. #MuseumsUnlocked Portable Antiquities & Treasure #Cumbria

One of my favourite Viking Age objects for #MuseumsUnlocked is a sledge from the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo. Amazing carved detail on these objects and they were being 3D scanned when I was there a couple of years ago

If any of my health communication students are still stuck for an idea and want to write their essay on the semiotics of this mess that'd be ๐Ÿ‘Œ.

Phil Lucas Jonathan Healey Slide #1 my place-name lecture. Place-names are awesome. The best early medieval history we have. Each name an epitome of the grand narrative, the early chronicle of place that was never formally written down, communicated instead with delightful brevity in just a few syllables.

Onomast friends! A friend is trying to research a village called Borrowash near Ockbrook in Derbyshire. Does anyone have a copy of P-Ns of Derbyshire on hand to look it up? Becca Gregory English Place-Name Society
