Sometimes, it's hard to get a sense of scale in the ocean. Take these cranchiids. They might seem small, but Taonius sp. can get up 66 cm in mantle length (ML) and Galiteuthis phyllura estimated to have a max ML of ~2.7 m! No wonder they are related to the colossal squid!
