Such imaginative new music in our Chetham's School of Music composers' concert yesterday! Quartets and quintets for strings, woodwind, saxes, brass and percussion as well as solo piano music and duos, skilfully written and brilliantly performed by students from year 7-13. Bravo everyone!! 👏👏👏

Pretty good week so far Chetham's School of Music. Outstanding inspection report from ISI, lunch for departing school captains and vice captains & then Chetham's Composers concert. Where else can a student write a piano concerto, then perform it with orchestra? 9 premiers in one evening!

It has been a fantastic end of term for Chetham's School of Music composers! Incredible chamber and orchestral composers' concerts with 3 piano concertos, a concerto for jazz 4tet and other new orchestral works in The Stoller Hall, plus superb masterclasses from Florence Anna Maunders & Larry Goves! Her brilliant Voluntary on Veni Emmanuel for organ will be performed by John Hosking twice this week in Blackburn Blackburn Cathedral, as joint winner of their composers' competition! She recently won the Robinson College composers' prize too!
