I'm a fan of the Athletic and their coverage. But at the The New York Times, sports reporting -- no matter the label -- is union work, and sports jobs are union jobs. I stand with more than 1,000 of my colleagues in demanding that Times management stop its blatant union-busting.

Whether or not it was the intention, "subcontracting" the sports desk to a non-union, company-owned outlet 100% undermines the Guild. Hopefully management will do the right thing and include our Athletic colleagues under the CBA. If not, we'll see whether an arbitrator agrees.
