To the extent that YIMBYs are "developer shills," we are shilling for a class of small and medium-scale infill developers that largely does not exist anymore because cities made those projects prohibitively difficult when they enacted Big Downzones in the 1960s and 70s.

YIMBY reforms are straightforwardly pro-competition, anti-monopoly. Glad to see someone come out and say this, in @TheNation no less.

If we want to succeed in building 5 million homes above trend, we need two things: 1) Our cities must have the zoned capacity for new housing. If they don't we will get nowhere. 2) We must derisk residential investment with construction financing tools.
