Women know that men don’t scheme to “dress like girls” to assault them. They do it every day in broad daylight. And the ones in power protect each other to keep it quiet. Just ask the House Ethics Committee. Or the President-elect of the United States. Leave women alone.

The commentariat wants us to believe redistribution and abundance are different because they want us divided. In the real world, they're the same thing: here's what happens when we try to redistribute in a low-supply market: families have to return their housing vouchers, unused.

To the extent that YIMBYs are "developer shills," we are shilling for a class of small and medium-scale infill developers that largely does not exist anymore because cities made those projects prohibitively difficult when they enacted Big Downzones in the 1960s and 70s.

YIMBY reforms are straightforwardly pro-competition, anti-monopoly. Glad to see someone come out and say this, in @TheNation no less.

If we want to succeed in building 5 million homes above trend, we need two things: 1) Our cities must have the zoned capacity for new housing. If they don't we will get nowhere. 2) We must derisk residential investment with construction financing tools.

New newsletter: Antitrust critics of Abundance claim homebuilding oligopolies are holding back supply and driving up prices. I did something simple. I called up their sources. Everyone I spoke to told me the same thing: Their claims are bullshit. derekthompson.org/p/the-anti-abu…

The American centrist punditocracy has decided that what the US transit industry needs are endless lectures about the importance of security. I see it from Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼, Christiane Fagiani, and now this guy. These writers misunderstand the problem, and are making things worse. 1/

The nightmare the gun lobby has warned against for decades — a federal government that uses violence to strip the constitutional freedoms of citizens who disagree with them — is happening in Minneapolis, btw
