The Conservative Government has waited until postal votes are being sent out to make an announcement of emergency talks with Alstom.
If they don’t keep those 1300 jobs in Derby this is unforgivably cynical electioneering.

Britain has a strong rail manufacturing history but after 14 years of Tory failure, it is in chaos.

My message at Alstom today is this - the government must act and do everything it can to back our rail industry and protect workers and families against job losses.

It’s devastating news for Derby that Alstom UK & Ireland has given notice that it will mothball the Litchurch Lane train factory, blaming failed negotiations and broken commitments from the Conservatives.
With the stroke of a pen the Conservatives could stop this, why won’t they act?

It was a joy to be back at Ashgate Nursery School where the children were excited for Easter. It wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for our Derby Labour Party campaign to save it from Conservative plans to close it last year.
