I agree with Louise Haigh it’s a disgraceful insult for the the Transport Minister to dismiss redundancies at Alstom as “peaks and troughs” - these are real people - their livelihoods, and a tradition that goes back nearly a century and a half standard.co.uk/news/politics/…
Wonderful to be at the Vaisakhi celebrations in Derby again.
It was an incredible procession through the streets of Derby and great fun to be there with Claire Ward for East Midlands Mayor Nicolle Ndiweni & Derby Labour Party friends and colleagues.
The Government has bowed to pressure to create a new and specific offence of assaulting a retail worker.
This is an important campaign victory for Alex Norris MP @coopparty & staff at stores like Central Co-op Food in Mackworth and Chaddesden and shows that when we work together we win.
It’s devastating news for Derby that Alstom UK & Ireland has given notice that it will mothball the Litchurch Lane train factory, blaming failed negotiations and broken commitments from the Conservatives.
With the stroke of a pen the Conservatives could stop this, why won’t they act?
It was a pleasure delivering Easter Eggs to Chaddesden residents on Hillcrest Road, Max Road, Roxburgh Avenue & Buckingham Avenue on behalf of the Revive Charity with Derby Labour Party Councillors Cllr Martin Rawson and Kathy Kozlowski 🐣 Happy Easter
Out with Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, Police & Crime Commissioner Candidate Nicolle Ndiweni & Claire Ward for East Midlands Mayor listening to the concerns of Mackworth residents about violent crime & drug dealing.
Labour would recruit 13,000 more neighbourhood police so people feel safer.
.Mark Harper has been warned time and again that his failure to act could lead to the closure of Alstom and the loss of thousands of jobs.
This news must surely now shame him into action.

It was a joy to be back at Ashgate Nursery School where the children were excited for Easter. It wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for our Derby Labour Party campaign to save it from Conservative plans to close it last year.
