A massive fire tore through #Mananjary, southeast #Madagascar, on 15 Sept 2025, killing at least 3 people, injuring many, and destroying over 900 wooden homes. Malagasy Red Cross teams are on the ground helping 550 affected households across 3 communities with emergency relief.
According to the latest The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification report, 1.2 million people in southern #Madagascar are currently experiencing high levels of acute food insecurity, and the situation is expected to deteriorate by 2026.
Across 3 communities in southern #Madagascar, over 700 people came together to plant 33,000 mangrove seedlings across 6 hectares, restoring nature and strengthening livelihoods. This was made possible thanks to Malagasy Red Cross volunteers, with support from British Red Cross 🧡,
