New publication alert!📢In the latest work from our group 👇 we've shown that microglia has the highest senescence burden in Alzheimer's disease which positively correlates with beta-amyloid load. Check it out here: link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Our paper is finally out (my first published first author)! In a tau model, we saw changes in signal encoding in vivo in tandem with synapse and structure alterations. A full summary in the qt below or go read the paper if you’re interested! academic.oup.com/braincomms/art…

The brain’s ability to rid itself of toxins may be reduced during sleep, new UK DRI research reveals🧠💤 Prof Bill Wisden (UK DRI at Imperial) & Prof Nick Franks (Imperial Sciences) found surprising evidence to counter a popular theory as to why we sleep👉buff.ly/3ygEb9j

Happy to share our paper, out this week in Cell Reports. We show that a neuron can act as a frequency mixer, and describe a new method for detecting higher-order frequency mixing interactions in brain activity. Always a pleasure to work with Robert Peach

Research from The University of Sheffield & the UK DRI at Cambridge reveals new insight into how a protein known as apolipoprotein E (APOE) interacts with amyloid-beta, and how this interaction affects the likelihood of developing Alzheimer's👉buff.ly/3VPeCW7

I haven’t advertised my poster yet but I’ll be presenting at #FENS2024 on Friday 2-5:30pm, presenting work from our preprint biorxiv.org/content/10.110… showing characterisation of our human brain slice cultures and the impact of amyloid-b manipulation in these. Come chat! 🧠✌🏽

New research from our group challenges the belief that neurons are a primary source of pathogenic Abeta in #Alzheimer’s. We show oligodendrocytes also produce Abeta, and suppressing oligo Abeta in mice rescues early neuronal dysfunction, suggesting a new therapeutic strategy.

I have an exciting PhD position available to join my lab starting this October at the UK Dementia Research Institute . If you are interested in understanding how microglia contribute to Parkinson's disease and want to study cellular interactions using different methods, apply! findaphd.com/phds/project/t…

Today in PLOS Biology, we reveal that in #Alzheimers, not only neurons but also oligodendrocytes produce #Abeta. Targeting #Abeta production in oligodendrocytes alone can rescue early neuronal dysfunction. Read the paper here: journals.plos.org/plosbiology/ar…
