With their homes destroyed by the devastating earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, survivors have spent a night in the open. The scale of the disaster far exceeds the capacity of local authorities and communities to provide assistance and help. Afghans need our support.

Gender equality is not a favour to women & girls. It is essential for dignity & justice for all. Yet, poverty, war, climate disasters & barriers continue to hinder progress. We need to #ActNow to empower all women & girls and achieve true equality in our societies.

Witnessing from the frontlines at the site of Afghanistan’s latest tragedy. UNHCR is part of a large, joint response. We are encouraged to see humanity, not politics, on display. But winter is coming, and the now homeless victims will need more support to withstand it.

Needs are skyrocketing while resources stay scarce. Cutting aid removes lifelines. Refugees, IDPs and returnees shouldn’t pay the price for politics. If we can fund conflict, we can fund compassion. Aid must stay principled and protected.
