Really awful news about Wild Card going under. Really good people, lovely (criminally underrated) beers, and they gave my partner some ad hoc work after she'd been made redundant elsewhere, which really helped us out at the time. Gutted for them tbh.

I commend the Israel Defense Forces, the Shin Bet, and the security services for eliminating the arch-terrorist Yahya Sinwar. Sinwar, the mastermind behind the deadly October 7th attack, has for years been responsible for heinous acts of terrorism against Israeli civilians,

Based on these answers on Farage and the ECHR, she is clearly preferable to Jenrick from the point of view of the Conservatives themselves and everyone else except Farage. They imply she has realised Brexitism is what's brought them and the country to where we are now.

Impressive to have stands. Subbuteo football was a bit rubbish though, wasn’t it? We had a game called 4-2-4 that was a lot better, and a fun one called maybe Striker, where you pressed their heads. Also Subbuteo rugby and especially cricket were much better.

There’s some serious motte and baileying going on among Conservatives who talk of “repealing the Equality Act”. Do they really mean they want such a radically regressive reform (binning eg equal pay law) or do they only mean repealing the public sector equality duty?

Everyone saying “no we can’t let the NHS use a proper joined up digital patient database, it’s all part of a plot to privatise British healthcare and sell your data” should be forced to read the dozens (hundreds?) of case studies like these bbc.co.uk/news/health-67…

You don't have to be any sort of leftwinger, or even centrist, or at all anti-American (the opposite, in fact) to see support for Trump as a red line in British politics. All of these people must be kept away from achieving or regaining power.

Gavin Barwell (@gavinbarwell) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If Robert wins on Saturday, it is clear that the Conservatives Party will go full Trump/Farage, attacking our institutions and promoting online conspiracy theories. I guess that's what his supporters want, but for the rest of us it would be deeply concerning

Sir James Munby’s views on the role of the judge in assisted suicide law are important. As well as his judicial experience, as a barrister he acted on behalf of the Official Solicitor representing Hillsborough victim Tony Bland in the case about withdrawing life support from him

For the non lawyers this is like finding a long lost Shakespeare play or an unreleased Beatles song (cut from like Abby Road or Revolver, not Yellow Submarine 😅). Absolutely huge for the jurisprudence nerds.

This is really curious. In my latest The Guardian column I mention an Israeli whisky. See attached. It didn't make it into the print edition and now it's vanished from the website. 🤔 theguardian.com/food/2024/nov/…

This really is nonsense, Prescott was a traditional Labour and trade unionist member, loyal to the party and understood and supported the Labour party and rejected the far left militancy and futile politics of the far left Sadly has only taken 24 hours for the nonsense to start
