The coordinated attacks on Ed Miliband are quite extraordinary. He is implementing the only policies available which can protect the UK from the type of devastating fossil price shocks we saw in 2022 Short memories & no credible alternatives

NEW RECORD: SolarPower Europe reveals that world installed record 597 GW of solar power in 2024 – a 33% surge over 2023. After the world crossed the milestone of 2 TW total solar in late 2024, the annual report predicts the world could be installing 1 TW of solar per year by 2030.

NEW: Big changes for UK renewable auctions For "AR7" CfD auction this yr, UK govt will publish a "capacity ambition" ie how many GW it wants to buy, instead of the "£budget" used previously eg says need 12GW offshore wind in AR7/8 Aim is to help deliver clean power by 2030 1/4

Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. - Carl Sagan

Happy 99th Birthday Sir David Attenborough. Thanks for being you and doing what you do. You are a legend and the world wouldn’t be the same without you in it. We thought we would try to make this happen (even if it’s just for one day). #SirDavidAttenborough #DavidAttenborough

Energy security, better health and cheaper costs: $100m of solar panels saves a country 30 years of gas imports at 2024 prices for the same 1.5TWh of electricity generated That's a $3b saving in gas imports for each $100m of solar deployed. Fact: ember-energy.org/latest-insight…

This can't be repeated often enough A BEV consumes about 160 kg of 🔋 battery cell materials over its lifetime. And at the end of life 70% - 90% is recovered. An ICE burns through 17,000 liters of fuel. Gone. No recovery. No recycling. Just burned into the atmosphere.

Addressing methane from the energy sector is one of the fastest & cheapest ways to lower emissions globally. Around 30% of methane emissions from fossil fuel operations in 2024 could have been prevented at no net cost Learn more ➡️ iea.li/43cBn92

🌍 Renewable energy powers over 16m jobs worldwide—more than double since 2012! ☀️ Solar leads with 7m in photovoltaics and 680,000 in solar heating/cooling. 💧 🇨🇳 China tops the list with 7.3m jobs, 🇧🇷 Brazil has 1.6m (mainly biofuels), and 🇪🇺 EU has 1.8m across renewables.

New build homes will have solar panels fitted by default, saving homeowners hundreds of pounds off their energy bills 💸 Homes will also have low-carbon heating, such as heat pumps, which are now easier to install following a change in planning rules 🏠 gov.uk/government/new…

Let's clear this up The map labelled "1976" is actually from 2022 Even if you take the max temperature that year (35.9°C), it's still 4.4 less than the max temperature in 2022 (40.3°C) Climate change denial relies on disinformation like this 👇

To all the reply guys saying how renewables are a terrible idea. I hate to break it to you but >90% of new generation capacity built is now renewable energy, mainly solar & wind. Data from IRENA

Hearing a lot lately that since the UK emits only 1% of greenhouse gases that we shouldn’t bother cutting emissions. Truth is that over 90% of 195 nations in the Paris accord can make that same claim. We are not special. All countries must play an ambitious role & no time to lose

There are some TRULY idiotic "I hate net-zero" takes on yday's OBR report, which set out long-term risks to govt finances It's right there in the report, but to repeat, OBR makes it crystal clear that climate action will be far less costly than inaction carbonbrief.org/obr-net-zero-i…
