9.T science of childhood trauma & ACEs is not, at its core, abt trauma. *It is abt child developmnt.* It tells us that whn a child grows up in strssful, scary circumstnces, their biology is changed. Thus, their behaviour is too, as their emotnal regulatory systm is more fragile.

Effects of growing in long-term poverty are profound. Attainment gaps for pupils on FSM for 80%+ of time at school are even larger than for all disadvantaged pupils – at 1 year by end of primary & almost 2 years at GCSE. It’s clear we’re not doing enough to support poorest pupils

Attainment varies significantly by ethnicity. Between 2019 and 2022, higher-attaining ethnic groups have generally pulled further away from White British pupils, whilst pupils from lower-attaining groups have generally narrowed the gap - except for White & Black Caribbean pupils
