Our 1st Dragon Day of the school year is in the books! Students were able to turn in 50 blue dragon coins to earn this coveted day. We had games, snow cones, therapy dogs, and bounce houses! Thank you to King Kangaroos LLC for donating the bounce houses!!!

A2: The most trying restraint of my career-Tears, sweat and waiting out behaviors for hours! But restoring the relationship afterwards helped us get through a very difficult day. We are going to have bad moments, it’s what we do after the moment that makes a difference! #SDEReads

A3: WE TEACH! We can’t punish the aggression out of anyone but we CAN teach them about their actions, emotions and the effect they have on the world! We need to give our students tools to manage their anger just like we give them tools to learn how to read #SDEReads

A4: the ultimate debate! I truly believe that most all behaviors are learned. Our wiring and nature will guide us and determine what sticks with us but reinforcement, the nurture, is huge. Environment is everything! #SDEReads

A5: Coercion is absolutely present amongst adults! We can break the cycle: prevent the need to persuade them by creating a happier environment where students (and teachers) want to perform! Not easy- I bribe my children all to often. But wouldn’t it be nice if we didn’t have to?!
