If we're serious about addressing 'wicked problems' in our communities, then let's not pretend that Urgent Care funding is anything but a band-aid. We need to fund comprehensive primary care. Urgent problems are very often a symptom of neglected health.

The AMA is extraordinarily disappointed at the allegations today in the media suggesting that up to $8b is being defrauded each year from Medicare by health professionals including doctors. These claims are an unjustified slur on the medical profession.

Medicare fraud is never Ok. But the current media stories seem to be implying that most GPs are dishonest, greedy or wasteful. This is driving good GPs away. I am in contact with competent, caring GPs who are so upset that they are actively planning their exit.

I agree with Steve Robson that Australia’s GPs have worked incredibly hard throughout the COVID pandemic, so media coverage is as appalling as it is inaccurate. I remain so proud of GPs and general practice teams in communities nation-wide. Don't let this get you down. #GP

I’m an ICU consultant. Working in general practice would scare the hell out of me. Dozens of risk management calls daily, based on the info from a 10 min consultation requires enormous clinical acumen. All with a government and press determined to belittle. Hats off to you all.
