My latest for the The New York Times: “San Francisco had the air this week of teenagers frantically cleaning up after a house party with their parents on the way home.” The city is sprucing up for 21 world leaders headed here for APEC. Residents ask, can it last? nytimes.com/2023/11/10/us/…

Imagine an all-you-can-ride pass that works on all transit and not just one agency. Transformation requires funding and we are thrilled MTC Bay Area is paying for this pilot to study how to make an unlimited pass work for the Bay Area. Tell your employer you want BayPass.

The Power Broker is perhaps the most important and complete explanation of how cities are formed, how neighborhoods are destroyed, bridges are erected, roads are laid down, parks are designed. fortunes are made, lives are ruined, and power is amassed. 1/2 99pi.org/episode/breaki…

For the Bay Area voters & city planning /transportation fans, a "Lane Man" collab with Diana on the State Senate District 9 election (Marisol Rubio vs Tim Grayson)! Paid for by Alfred Twu, not authorized by a candidate or a committee controlled by a candidate.

You’ve almost certainly been lied to after Googling how big the world’s cities are. How can it be that Melbourne in Australia has 5 million residents, whereas New York City only has 8? It's been very difficult to compare cities, until now...

City planners: there's a secret 2nd half to the urban transect that goes to 12! In planning, the transect is used to create form-based zoning with a compact mix of homes, jobs, & public space. Different densities from rural to urban are labeled T1 to T6. I've added T7 to T12😂

A casual reminder: the highest rail transit ridership in Tennessee, a state with a population of 7 million people and a GDP the size of Ireland, is the Dollywood Express train ride.

Oh my God, I love this - the bus system in the Northern Mariana Islands has a YOUTUBE LIVESTREAM for tracking its fixed route buses.
