Solving problems is exhausting. Pursuing new ideas and big dreams is exhilarating. Don't ignore problems. But spending more time on what gets you up in the morning helps power through the problems and it's surprising how many old problems get solved by unrelated new ideas.

In just 8 years' time, Americans w/ 'a great deal' of confidence in higher ed dropped from 28% to 17% while those w/ 'very little' rose from 9% to 22%. As a net promoter score, we had 3x more promoters than detractors in 2015. Today, there are more detractors than promoters!
