This is really a stunning paper. Cyanobacteria exposed to shorter days (in the lab) "rewire" their membrane lipids to anticipate cold weather. When those cells are plunged into cold water, they have "two or three-times higher survival" than cells exposed to longer days.

I find it ridiculous and philosophically hubristic that serious academics are casually dismissing papers based on their abstracts & without engaging any of their arguments. I know this has become a quick way to win likes, but it's simply unphilosophical & not great for the field.
