I also went ahead and did an alcohol wash to determine the varroa mite load in my colonies. There were 9 mites which is too much and that is why I started treating with thymol. This is not the best time for treating, ideally it should be started beginning of August.

There are many things that I am changing up this year with regards to beekeeping. One thing is how I make honey. I am pretty unhappy with my leftover honey at this point because it is almost rock solid. Won't happen again, looking forward to fixing that!
