Prof Fares Haddad Andreas Fontalis UCL Div of Surgery UCLH Great study. It raises the question whether current PROMs are actually sensitive enough the measure differences that might actually matter to patients. This a similar outcome to earlier generation CAOS - ie more accurate, but similar PROMs.
At six months postoperatively, there were no clinically meaningful differences between the first & second TKA in either the joint-specific or overall generic health-related quality of life.

From autografts and allografts, modular porous metal augments have led to a paradigm shift in the management of acetabular bone loss, with mid to long-term results showing >90% survival.

It is good to see registry data being used to analyze patient-reported outcomes. A number of our patients need the second knee to be addressed before they really gain full benefit.

It is important that commercial & marketing drivers of the idealized hip replacement recovery don’t mislead patients. A holistic, personalized approach is needed in every case & not all patients have the same recovery pathway.
