PyGrunn 2019 was a blast! Last Friday 250 Python software professionals had a wonderful day full of deep tech, inspiring talks, great conversations, good laughs and an occasional beer.

PyGrunn is the 'Python and friends' developer conference hosted in Groningen that Sietse Offringa van der Laan I've been organising since 2010. But it was never just us. We had the help of a large number of volunteers over the years.

We want to pay credit where credit is due because we realise that we are standing on the shoulders of giants. Something often forgotten in the high-pace world of internet startups.

Not just the success of PyGrunn, but also the success of every software company out there is predominantly the result of work by open source software professionals.

Spending quite some free time over a period of at least 6 months on preparing for PyGrunn is my way sincere way of saying 'thank you' to that community.

Not only the success of PyGrunn is based on the work of that community, but almost every aspect of my personal professional life as well. That means a lot to me.

The success of PyGrunn makes me proud, the community makes me proud. And it humbles me to be able to put a smile on every face of the 250+ PyGrunners that stays on for at least 24 hours.

Next year PyGrunn is turning 10 and we will move into the new Groninger Forum, all the reason to make it a truly memorable episode. We had so many people thanking us and offering help for next year that we are convinced that we will fix that. But as always, your help is welcome.
