Female estate workers lack access to changing facilities at their workplace. This means that they have to walk home in arduous conditions to change their sanitary napkin. Sadly, the social stigma regarding menstruation makes it difficult to speak up and have their needs heard.

Suzanne is often asked about the cost of making period products free to those in need, her answer: “This is what it costs to not do it. If we don’t have period products available to those who need them people miss school and work, there is a huge economic cost.”

There were so many important takeaways but some of them were: -Menstruation is a human rights issue -We need to teach boys about periods -We need to implement menstrual health management policies -We need a SDG goal around periods -We need to standardise pads globally
