Only on the #UoBGuate2020 field trip do you get serenaded by an internationally renowned pianist in the national palace. We were all "encouraged" to sing along. The song? Bohemian Rhapsody!! What a day! #Day1

UAVs are changing the ways volcanologists work. It's hard to imagine getting close enough to be able to see that there are *five* active vents at the summit of Pacaya at the moment. A sensational day yesterday with the University of Bristol Earth Sciences students studying volcanology #UoBGuate2020

First field day. Pacaya. Gustavo Chigna from INSIVUMEH explaining the rich history of the 60 year old MacKenney cone. Ably assisted by Matt Purvis, a former student from University of Bristol Earth Sciences now a fixer and geological tour guide. #UoBGuate2020

I don’t understand why people are complaining about the Colston statue being pushed into the harbour in Bristol. It’s still there if you want to jump in and have a look at it.

BLM protestors took down Edward Colston’s statue 56 hours ago. Since then Belgium has taken down King Leopold II, London’s taken down Robert Milligan, Liverpool Uni will rename its halls, Plymouth will rename a square and memorials for Windrush have been planned. Protest works.

The secret is out! This is a friend of mine - having a Black woman stand in that spot instead says so much!! Bravo Jen! Bravo @_MarcQuinn Edward Colston statue replaced by sculpture of Black Lives Matter protester theguardian.com/world/2020/jul…

I’m willing to hold you accountable for lying about climate change for 30 years when you secretly knew the entire time that fossil fuels emissions would destroy our planet 😇

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@aoc) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The audacity of Shell asking YOU what YOU’RE willing to do to reduce emissions. 🙄 They’re showing you RIGHT HERE how the suggestion that indiv choices - not systems - are a main driver of climate change is a fossil fuel talking point. Yes, make good choices. Reign in FF corps.

Without volcanoes, life on earth would never have begun. They are responsible for both our breathable atmosphere and our oceans. #PerfectPlanet

“We can't control volcanoes, but we can limit the amount of carbon dioxide that we produce. And if we do that, there will still be time to restore the ecological balance that once made this Earth our #PerfectPlanet.” 🌍

Volcanoes erupt all the time. Many are harmless and elicit nothing but joy. Others are entirely destructive and engender horror. But most eruptions inspire fear and awe together. How do volcanologists handle this emotional paradox? Me, for The Atlantic theatlantic.com/science/archiv…

Climate disasters don't stop because there's a pandemic. Let's quickly build on the decisions of #COP26 and take action now, whilst it is still possible (video via UNDRR)
