10 months since the coup in #Myanmar, the junta continues to target those opposed to military rule, including Ko Kyaw Kyaw Htwe, an #LGBTQ activist who was "disappeared" and murdered. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar

Video showing a small group of young protesters doing nothing but marching, chanting and throwing pamphlets when security forces open fire. Monstrous and inexcusable but standard Tatmadaw behavior

Myanmar military soldiers brutally rammed a car into peaceful protesters killing and injuring many. It is a deliberate inhumane attack on protesters and constitutes a further terrorist crime SAC is committing.

On the 11th day of #16Days of Activism, we are sadly once again reminded of the bravery of all those peacefully protesting against the military coup in #Myanmar, and the cowardice of the military in targeting unarmed civilians.

The trial of #AungSanSuuKyi was a farce. #Myanmar's military junta can lock her up but they have already lost the battle of ideas. The rising generation in Myanmar reject military rule and atrocities committed in the name of stability. The future belongs to them.

The price of international inaction rose again in Myanmar when the junta announced it will hang pro-democracy activists while continuing to murder, abduct, and torture people throughout Myanmar. It is past time to step up w strong, coordinated, action. ohchr.org/en/press-relea…

There should be no "business as usual" with a military junta that is committing #CrimesAgainstHumanity. Sanctioning these exploitive companies is the least the international community can do to stand with the long-suffering people of #Myanmar.

Today I issued the following statement on the UN Security Council resolution on Myanmar. The demands are important, but without consequences for failing to meet them, Myanmar's nightmare will continue. It is past time to act. ohchr.org/sites/default/… ohchr.org/en/press-relea…

The Myanmar junta's 33 year sentence of State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi comes a week after a Security Council resolution demanded her release and that of more than 13,000 other political prisoners. They need more than words of condemnation from world leaders. They need action.
