Incoming call: NASA Astronauts! ☎️ Today, Nichole “Vapor” Ayers and COL Anne McClain will be chatting about their experience living and working on the International Space Station with students from New York. Tune in: youtube.com/live/LgNHafwUg…

International Space Station 大西卓哉 (JAXA宇宙飛行士)Takuya Onishi NASA M+30: One of the experiments we’re conducting on the International International Space Station is to see how different types of nanomaterials can be fabricated in microgravity to improve biomedical applications on Earth. Nichole “Vapor” Ayers and I worked together in the Life Sciences Glovebox,

M+33: The Air Force Academy (Nichole “Vapor” Ayers's alma mater) is doing a neat botanical experiment to examine whether a carbon dioxide replacement can reduce a plant’s dependence on photosynthesis and increase growth in space-grown plants. This can help reduce energy use on future

We’ve been doing quite a bit of maintenance after the departure of the last cargo vehicle! I’m always amazed by the level of forethought and planning that goes into maintaining the International Space Station. Our engineers on the ground have to be creative enough to anticipate how

Nichole “Vapor” Ayers International Space Station NASA 大西卓哉 (JAXA宇宙飛行士)Takuya Onishi M+51: Teamwork makes the dream work. Oftentimes, a single task will be broken up into stages that are each completed by a different crew member, or sometimes as pairs. This week we had an unexpected maintenance task of repairing a critical component of the Thermal Amine

I love looking out the side window of the cupola on the International Space Station. This particular view is looking starboard toward Antarctica to catch the aurora — and look at the star movement! I’ve seen a lot of reds and greens in the aurora, but this one had some purple hues, as well.

From the International Space Station, our hearts go out to the friends and family of Marc Garneau. Our colleagues at Canadian Space Agency have lost a pioneering astronaut and remarkable leader. Ad Astra.
