Progress 🤩🤩! Last week, we looked at Mock STAAR writing samples and found the “glows/grows”. This week, students are working in small group to analyze their own writing, and making improvements using self, peer, and teacher feedback. So proud of their dedication to growth! 📝✅

Today we used the World Cafe method to answer our big question: How can one person make a difference in their community? It was so fun to watch students facilitate small groups, and the responses were impressive! Group leaders all agreed that being a teacher is a tough job 😂

In August/September, my class was full of reluctant writers. I had to start each writing lesson with students repeating positive affirmations after me. Now, there’s no more sighing or crying, and a lot of “LOOK HOW MUCH I WROTE!” These “little things” make me smile BIG! 😊

Shout out to our amazing counselor! She spends STAAR mornings gracing the hallways with a sweet smile and her self-care rolling cart, complete with snacks, mints, encouraging notes, stress relief lotion, and stuffies to hug. We love you Mrs. Dzierzanowski! ♥️ Farias-Spitzer Elementary

We’ve been hard at work researching our favorite singers, authors, and athletes!! 3rd graders agree that research is fun, especially when using Book Creator! Thanks Peggy Hall for helping us get started! #todayincomal #cisddigitallearning 3rdGrade_FSES

📸 Say POPSICLES! 📸 “Team Rodfrey” has been working hard at sticking with our social contract, even with the all the end-of-year excitement. Today, we celebrated our success with a cold treat and extra recess! ☀️😊

These chains adorned our hall and sparked motivation during STAAR prep/testing. Each link = 1 correct answer to a math problem! Today we stretched them around the entire upstairs, down the stairs, around the library, and into the 1st/2nd grade hallway! These kids are BRIGHT! 🌟

We filled our BARKboard! This MTSS tool helps keep me accountable for giving specific positive feedback, and students love getting to sign it for a job well done. When we fill it, we CELEBRATE! I’m always flattered when students choose to celebrate by having lunch with me! 🫶🏼
