In September 1944, when the 2nd Battalion marched into Brussels many of the inhabitants came out to welcome the Argylls to the city. Jacqueline de Marbix, aged 21, moved forward to give one young soldier a welcoming kiss. Her reward was the gift of his cap badge which she kept.
