Violent disorder & thuggery has no place on Britain’s streets. It is a disgrace that the same police who worked to save lives in Southport were attacked next day with bricks. Today Keir Starmer & I met police chiefs on how we’ll work together to crack down on violent disorder.

I visited Matlock Jobcentre to find out more about the support they can offer to constituents who are looking for work or looking for more work. It was great to speak to the staff, I know that they do a great job.

Had these race riots happened during the last few years of the Conservative government Britain would have been a far more dangerous place for people of colour. As a @conservative my first commitment is to my country and I’m relieved a sane squad are in charge during these

I had the pleasure of Terry Eckersley’s company, officially opening a supported living housing scheme through River Network. I spoke to a resident who told me that her life has been completely turned around (for the better) since moving in to the property.

Aquabox, a Cromford charity, make and deliver water filtration systems to disaster zones. You can’t survive without clean water. Everything’s assembled by around 80 local volunteers. The team also send other essentials in the box. Ukraine, Nepal, Haiti, Syria etc have benefitted.

I was joined by the Lord-lieutenant at Cromford Mills to learn about the plans to bring much of this historic site back into use. It’s not cheap to restore grade 1 listed buildings, but there’s a great team here, with the required ambition.

I had a really enlightening farm visit to Cubley this morning. We discussed a wide range of issues, but there is a positive feeling about the place and a good relationship with their primary customer, plus great hospitality!

Glorious day at the Chatsworth Country Fair. A remarkable 70,000 visitors are expected over the three days and it’s not surprising as to why, with so much to see and do.

I did lunch with Ian Skye last week. The interview starts 1hr 14 minutes in. It has to be said that my comment about Derby (County) needing a little more creativity this season seems a bit unfair after their stunning performance at the weekend. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0…

My warmest congratulations to my predecessor and true champion of Derby, Baroness Margaret Beckett on her induction to the House of Lords. I have no doubt she will continue her lifelong work of formidable service and dedication to our country.

This morning, Derbyshire Labour MP’s visited the County Hall to hear the councils take on the care homes consultation. This evening we met with impacted relatives and UNISON to hear their side. I’ve got to say there was big difference between the two.
