Just testing! Our Heritage Highways project has been installing new mounting blocks, like this one at Stonycroft bridleway which meets with the approval of a local rider.

Winter is a difficult time for water voles, freezing temps and scarcity of food means they have to spend more time foraging for food. Keeping your dog on a lead when visiting Redmires will reduce the disturbance suffered by water voles and increase their chances of survival.

Water vole numbers have been declining faster than any other mammal in the UK, so please take action for nature and keep your dog on a lead when visiting Redmires reservoirs. Thank you Yorkshire Water 💧 #wildlife #watervoles

Water voles are just one of the species on the brink of extinction within the UK. We're working hard at Redmires reservoir with our partners Yorkshire Water 💧 to protect water voles and create new habitat #MondayMotivation

Did you know that even the friendliest of dogs can threaten our wildlife? 💔 The Wildlife Trusts and Dogs Trust 💛🐶 are asking people to keep their pooches on leads. This will protect some of our most vulnerable species, like nesting birds. 🐦 wildlifetrusts.org/news/pet-owner…

A fantastic 33 species of bee were recorded last year at Wadsley and Loxley Common, by the keen Commoners. Their list included Clarke's Mining Bee, Bilberry Mining Bee, Brown-footed Leafcutter Bee and this lovely Vestal Cuckoo Bee.

With spring well and truly in the air, we're reminding everyone that not all birds nest in trees, so dogs need to be kept on leads. theguardian.com/environment/20…

The official bird nesting season is now well under way, and despite the weather today, many birds will be incubating their eggs - so please keep your dog on a short lead when visiting the countryside this weekend #birds #wildlife #countrysidecode #BiodiversityCrisis

Called out this pm to wonderful Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust Wyming Brook Nature Reserve - people with bbqs & fires on the go. Sorry folks, but a Nature Reseve is just NOT the place for this. Please don't camp there either, we literally end up dealing with the cr@p people leave behind.
