Jo and her team's work is important. There is so much I relate to here as a parent/carer, the trauma caused by lack of support from services, lack of understanding is lifelong. Journo friends, there's a strong health piece here. affinityhub.uk/userfiles/docu…

For 7 years, we've been warning that if you don't get SEND support right in schools you will see an increase in need at the other end. Many young people signing up for PIP now were starting secondary then. Don't abandon them twice. Disabled Children's Partnership

The problem with proposals to end pip payments to ppl with mental health conditions is that we need a functioning health system first so we can properly investigate (and treat!!) patients rather than GPs chucking sertraline at them... I unfortunately know this firsthand🧵

Only 2,143 of the 5,700 of the migrants Rwanda has agreed to accept 'continue to report to the Home Office and can be located for detention'.

'If only pontificating ministers would see people with learning disabilities as citizens who deserve the best support for the benefit of all society, not simply as drains on their budgets and as political footballs.' Excellent column from Ian Birrell : thetimes.co.uk/article/people…

My mum has Alzheimer's and 'months left', she wouldn't want to live like this but I can't support assisted dying because my daughter has learning disabilities, I watched with horror the lack of regard for her life from politicians & doctors during covid. I agree with Josh Glancy

This happened consistently to my daughter in her secondary SEND school. Compounding this is the fact that even in specialist schools where a child has 1:1 written into their EHCP, they rarely receive that because TAs have to support children with high needs but without EHCPs.

I'm amazed this has taken so long to come out. It was happening in my daughter's former SEND school for years. theguardian.com/education/2024…

No.

Here’s a room full of disabled people doing the most.

This ‘sick note culture’ conversation is a tactic for the Tories to win more votes. It’s a harmful rhetoric at the expense of disabled people.

Also hope there are disabled people on the Question Time panel.

Hang up your quills, Quentin Letts and Matthew Parris. We have no further use of political commentators, from now on we shall be going straight to focus groups in Taunton and Godalming for opinion because they come up with metaphors like this ...

What was your media moment of the year? Great that TV, film and journalism is becoming more equitable (no pun intended). Can we do more? Congrats to Ralph & Katie.
