To all the plant lovers! May you find your perfect plant to appreciate on this Valentines day. I found mine on this herbarium sheet. #Diplacus nanus ♥️

Just encountered the term "anthophilous" in a scientific paper, and I'm delighted to find out it means "frequenting flowers". Is this a term that only applies to pollinators? Because I find that I frequent flowers also 😍

It's a bad time for #publiclands right now. Conglomerate Mesa is home to some amazing rare plant habitat, including much of the known distribution of #Perityle inyoensis! These lands need to be preserved and protected!

Scientists and conservation practitioners, can we please discuss the ethics of "research" funded in the name of mitigation? Please read this The Washington Post article on Tiehm's buckwheat for some backstory. washingtonpost.com/climate-enviro…

Loved reading this The New York Times piece about badass scientist Linda Zall, who worked for the CIA and used spy satellite imagery to monitor global environmental change: "For decades, hers was a hidden hand." #WomenInSTEM nytimes.com/2021/01/05/sci…

This afternoon I'm working on some route planning for springtime botanizing at my study site, and I gotta confess, I'm a little nervous about what's happening with these topo lines...🧐

Yosemite will likely remain closed until Friday morning as the park conducts damage assessments, repairs facilities, and clears trees. While some facilities have been damaged, no injuries have been reported as a result of the high winds in the park. 📷 by Lindsay Stevenson

Spring flowers may not have arrived (or even germinated) in southern Death Valley quite yet, but the #Echinocactus polycephalus are lookin' quite lovely. Here's hoping that this weekend delivers some much needed rain! 🤞
