Carbon capture and storage - unproven and dangerous, risking justifying fossil fuel burning. What to do? Leave the oil & gas in the ground: that's nature's #CCS. And it is cost-free theguardian.com/environment/20…

Starmer's creating a £22 billion black hole today. It's called investment in carbon capture and storage. This is an unproven technology whose only purpose is to permit fossil fuel to still be burned. And he's fallen for it. Is that foolishness, stupidity or corruption in play?

Imagine if they spent £22 billion on restoring peat bogs, the oceans, forests (proven carbon capture), or on public transport, insulation, solar – literally anything but this, which is just playing into the hands of the fossil fuel bros and delaying the transition to green energy

Zero Carbon World (@zerocarbonworld) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ed Miliband Carbon Capture and Storage is largely a folly and is in the wrong direction. It would have been much better to have focused on stopping burning stuff in the first instance & kept the £28bn green energy fund instead of paying £22bn to try & recapture what they’ve already burned.

If you made $53,000 a day or $20 million per year since Jesus was born you would still not make the profit Shell made in 2022. It’s time for Shell to Stop Drilling and Start Paying for the climate damage they’ve caused. #ActOnClimate #climate #phaseoutfossilfuels #renewables

So disappointed. I’d hoped Labour understood the science. They don’t Deaths on their hands if they don’t stop this nonsense. We need insulation, solar, heat pumps, EV incentives, mitigation strategies, water & food security We don’t need your rude, ignorant comment, Keir Starmer

The most grim plankton compilation video I've made. This should only be a beautiful world of microlife. Instead it's a microplastic-polluted, horror movie. Beauty and the beast. ZEISS Microscopy

Even if every immigrant was stopped, every disabled person worked (impossible), and nobody ever retired. The richest 1% would still be taking £400bn a year for doing almost nothing. And magically it would jump to £500bn or £600bn to negate any improvement. You need to wake up.

A recent stay in north Devon, near Exmoor. And here are the birds that represent about 95% of the local bird biomass at this time of year. Dozens of each in the garden of the holiday home. Only because we have become so used to this is it not seen for what it is: utter madness.

This is the sort of place your helium birthday balloons end up when you let them go, or worse still, in the oceans where there's a good chance they'll end up in the belly of a whale, a turtle or a seabird. Dispose of them responsibly, please! 🙏 National Trust for Scotland Marine Conservation Society

Despite a landscape of failed #CCS projects around the world, the Govt is throwing £22bn at the technology - allowing fossil fuel companies to pursue new polluting projects There is a nature-based alternative. Why isn't the Govt looking at that?

The only way to keep this platform usable since its emuskulation is to block, block and block again. I very seldom blocked people before Musk. Now I block around 20 a day. It feels quite satisfying, like shooting zombies in a computer game. 🧵
