Marie Curie died of aplastic anaemia on 4 July 1934, a result of years of exposure to radiation through her work. Even today her laboratory notebook from 1899-1902, is radioactive and will be for 1,500 years. #NobelPrize

Aged 23, before she’d even earned her PhD, Carol Greider made her #NobelPrize discovery. Along with laureate Elizabeth Blackburn she discovered telomerase. At each end of a chromosome lies a protective "cap" called a telomere – telomerase is the enzyme that creates it.

I like this Figure published in "A brief history of human disease genetics" by Melina Claussnitzer, Ph.D. and colleagues - how can reviewers still run around today and claim that GWAS "did not work"? nature.com/articles/s4158…

Successful CRISPR-Cas9-based gene editing therapy for sickle cell disease and ß-thalassemia by international team led by Selim Corbacioglu (Regensburg) reported in the NEJM (nejm.org/doi/pdf/10.105…). Major accomplishment just few days before the CRISPR-Cas9 Nobel ceremony.

Am I angry at the #COVID19 vaccine #inequity? No. Am I disappointed? NO! Well.. no more than I'm at all other #vaccine / #globalhealth inequities. If this is all new to you, you have missed out on the centuries of inequity/discrimination entrenched in so called "global" health.

You know those nightmares when you want/need to scream but can't? Your body's paralyzed? Thats how I have been constantly feeling about #vaccineINEquity. The North has shut us down. No matter how much we try, write open letters, tweet, they can't hear us. Our voices don't exist.
