Opposing an immediate ceasefire is a fringe, extremist position which puts you at odds with the majority of the british public and humanity at large. That remains true whatever happens in parliament today

I feel like I’m losing my mind that it’s seen as too lefty to call for a ceasefire. A ceasefire is literally the softest bare minimum that should be demanded. In any other circumstances progressives would be calling for arms embargoes, sanctions, international arrest warrants.

The reason why Labour can't vote for the SNP's ceasefire motion, according to shadow foreign secretary David Lammy, is because it's 'an election year'.
