I believe in the principle behind the iron ring, a reminder of our obligation to public safety. The ceremony could be updated to instil that reminder, while reflecting and celebrating the diversity that now exists in the student body, rather than the ideals of one man in 1925.

My research shows that a big source of burnout for DEI pros are liberal-ish white admins who act as DEI gatekeepers and police mostly Black & Brown DEI specialists. The liberal white delusion is that often the gatekeepers see themselves as in solidarity w/ the people they police.
