So I just re-watched the classic Simpsons episode ‘Bart Gets An Elephant’. It is 25 years old, but a parable for our times. [thread] Bart wins a radio station phone-in and is given a binary choice: $10,000 in cash or a full grown African elephant. Bart chooses the elephant.

I'm sure Dave doesn't want his poll to be skewed by merely his own followers. So shall we see if he can get a broader cross section of opinion? Can I suggest people vote (however they see fit) and RT the hell out of this for the next four hours.

It's interesting that in 2016 the view of our representative democracy was solid remain but a direct democracy referendum voted leave. Now in 2019 we could end up with a post election representative democracy that is solid leave and a direct democracy referendum that is remain.

Is it wrong to take at least some small comfort from watching Brexity culture war loving types lose their shit over the very government they voted for?

This is crazy. The government chose to warn against travelling too far to exercise in their guidance, they didn't feel the need to put it in the law. If they now think this matters and they want to fine people then put it in the law!
