Great Political Quarterly article by my fab School of Politics & IR at Queen Mary colleague Dr Sofia Collignon on 'Addressing Barriers to Women's Representation in Party Candidate Selections' onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/14… 👏Sofia 😉
Another corker of an event from the Mile End Institute, marking the 30th anniversary of John Smith’s death. Excellent keynote from Yvette Cooper and now a superb panel discussion.
We ended today's Mile End Institute event in memory of John Smith, who died 30 years ago this week, with his call for 'democratic optimism'.
In an age when government can seem so constrained - when the pressures on government can feel so overwhelming - we need that call more than ever
New article at Political Quarterly #Gender disparities persist in candidate selections, with #Tories nominating more men. A gender-sensitive party culture audit is urgent to address barriers to women's political participation. #Gender Equality #PoliticalReform

I’m afraid to say that the Mile End Institute didn’t win but my friend Colm Murphy was highly-commended in the Queen Mary University of London Early Career Researcher category. I can’t overstate how important Colm is to MEI and what an extraordinary impact he has had on School of Politics & IR at Queen Mary. Congratulations, Colm!

& the great turnout for the London Citizens assembly.
Looking forward to strengthing the partnership for next year.
Interesting study by School of Politics & IR at Queen Mary’s Maria Grasso and collaborator Marco Guigni finds that public funding directed toward youth orgs often results in depoliticisation.
Very proud to see my research made into this compelling cartoon form. Thank you to the Cartoon Movement, artist Maddo Maddo, Gianluca Iazzolino, & Haki na Sheria. This cartoon tells the story of an often-overlooked form of digitized border making (1/2) shorturl.at/dnsJT
