Over the next month, we have a packed programme at the Mile End Institute. As well as two book launches at Queen Mary University of London, this will be a particular highlight. We'll be reflecting on Smith's service to the #LabourParty , the impact of his death, and the lessons of his career for politics today.

For what it's worth, I think Marr is broadly right in his piece. If Rwanda does succeed as a (partial) deterrent (and Ireland's reaction this week suggests it already is), then it will be very difficult for Labour simply to ditch the scheme without a workable alternative.
