Well done to my local cricket club Barnards Green Cricket Club

Preparing and adapting to rapidly changing climate means cricket will be happening on both grounds tomorrow.

Investing in improved drainage as well as water harvesting for the inevitable summer shortages!

Parts of the Mediterranean are 7°C above normal.

7 bloody degrees!

Remember it takes more than 3000 times as much heat to warm water by 1°C than it does for air.

78% of Earth's oceans are currently experiencing a marine heatwave (MHW) 🌡️ 🌊

The event in the Mediterranean & Black Sea is extreme.

MHWs near the UK & southwest of Spain may be of significance to the relentless rains in the UK, as air flows over these en route to the country.

Amazing how fast things are drying out. Strong winds, low humidity and a bit of sun working wonders.

This was a quagmire a week ago.

Global temperatures have now averaged 1.6°C above pre industrial for a full year now.

Doesn’t mean the 1.5° target is dead as that is a long term (multi year) average and it’s likely temperatures will drop back a bit post El Niño.

But it is very concerning.

£15bn to bailout just one of the water companies.

The millions of £££s the government stripped from the Environment Agency & Ofwat over the past decade or so is beginning to look like quite the false economy now, isn't it?

British milk - £1.06 a litre
Water - £1.20 a litre

Whole chicken - £3.22
Cup of coffee - £3.36

Food can’t be sustainably produced for these prices.

70-80% of dairy farms in England & Wales are operating illegally and polluting rivers.

The price we pay for milk is ridiculously low & it’s unsurprising infrastructure investment is lacking

Another broken economic model where environment & taxpayer pays

Something of a respite for southern parts of England.

Northern areas, however, are seeing an exceptionally wet April.

The deluge continues.

Several locations already at record breaking April rainfall levels with 2 weeks still to go.

Shift of location of heaviest rain though away from southern areas towards the north.

Flood recovery grants have been a shambles for years.

Ridiculous, arbitrary rules and thresholds set by national Government and local authorities left to try to administer and take the flak.
