Great day for the #NewYearPlantHunt in Limerick! My Group Hunt around the King John's Castle Area recorded 43 species in flower. Sylvia Reynolds, past VCR for Limerick also joined us! Also, another group recorded 57 species in the Raheen area, and a list of 8 in Castletroy!

No seeds for wildflowerhour today but I do have a full suite of very soggy carnivores. Pinguicula vulgaris, Drosera rotundifolia and Pinguicula lusitanica from one of the wettest hikes I've ever been on in Connemara today 🌧

I'm not sure if whooper swans have particular migration routes- if they do, I live on one! I'm fairly sure I've just heard the first ones flying over this morning 🦢
