Every year we spend $182 billion on mass incarceration. We need restorative justice and preventative programs now more than ever.

Housing for all neighbors is the foundation for a healthier and stable community. When we invest in each other, we all win. We support opportunities for housing, esp. home ownership for our underserved community members, such as returning citizens, young adults, and older adults.

Congrats to DC’s newest ANC, Joel Caston, who was sworn-in this evening at DC Jail by Judge Milton Lee. Commissioner Caston is the first to hold the seat in 20+ years, and the first incarcerated resident ever elected to public office in DC. Thank you for serving your community!

Great op-ed Joshua A. Miller Tyrone Walker! We agree parole bds don't work. We support parole thru judges. Key pts: 1. Parole bds don't pay attn to rehabilitation. 2. Unnecessary parole rules send folks back to prison. 3. Judges are qualified to decide. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/…

Yesterday was a monumental step in the right direction. Ending Title 16! As @TheRealHalim stated this statute was a reactionary law put in place to punish the black youth society deem incorrigible.

“It’s like a bandaid on a gunshot wound,” says anthony petty, on DOC's response to the conditions at the jail. We agree. We need radical change. Leadership change alone is not sufficient. time.com/6137882/dc-jai…
