Every year we spend $182 billion on mass incarceration. We need restorative justice and preventative programs now more than ever.

Unfortunately, parole seems to be a mere exercise of bureaucracy in too many states. A first-time "yes" answer is rare.

Congrats to DC’s newest ANC, Joel Caston, who was sworn-in this evening at DC Jail by Judge Milton Lee. Commissioner Caston is the first to hold the seat in 20+ years, and the first incarcerated resident ever elected to public office in DC. Thank you for serving your community!

Yesterday was a monumental step in the right direction. Ending Title 16! As @TheRealHalim stated this statute was a reactionary law put in place to punish the black youth society deem incorrigible.
