I was a bit confused as to why the US wants Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina, CON, CGH out of the AfBD so bad. Then I saw this video. His understanding of agriculture as a business represents a threat to their economic interests. Pretty simple

Happy Friday 🥳 our paper is out in Current Biology! Thrilled to show here how the arbitrium system in the SPBeta group of #phages plays a key role in the induction of resident prophages in B. subtilis Nuria Quiles José R Penadés cell.com/current-biolog… 1/
Congratulations to Dr. Mohammed A. Thabet. 👏🏻👏🏻🎉🎉
Latest from the lab. Alfred Fillol and Jakob T Rostøl deserve all the merit. Here we show that PICIs carry an impressive arsenal of defense systems that block HGT. We also demonstrate that phages benefit from mobilizing these PICIs to target competing MGEs. cell.com/cell/fulltext/…
Thrilled to share our latest work about PICIs published in Cell! It was a pleasure to work with these brilliants scientists! Huge congrats to all them (Jakob T Rostøl, Adaeze D. Ojiogu, JChen Lab, Gill Douce, Suzie, José R Penadés)
Here is the link for the paper (cell.com/cell/fulltext/…), but please read the magnific thread that Jakob T Rostøl has tweeted x.com/jakob_tr/statu…
Happy Friday. My first first author paper is out as a preprint with Alfred Fillol José R Penadés @epcrocha et all. We report the discovery of a new family of PICIs, that encode all the proteins required for the PICI capsid & packaging but only steal phage tails to spread in nature.
Huge congratulations to the winner of the Sir Howard Dalton Young Microbiologist of the Year Competition 2022, Aisling Brady (Aisling Brady) from Imperial College London! 👏 #MicrobioShowcase22
Happy to see the final version of this paper out in nature. Led by the incredible Tong Zhang and fantastic collaborators Gemma C Atkinson Vasili Hauryliuk and Abel Garcia-Pino. Started after serving as outside examiner for a student of Gem and Vasili's. 1/6 nature.com/articles/s4158…
Phage satellites ride on coat-“tails”. #Phage satellite family encodes all proteins to produce capsids-where satellite genomes are exclusively packaged-& only parasitizes phage tails to produce particles د.ناصر القريني Nasser Alqurainy Miguel-Romero Alfred Fillol José R Penadés cell.com/cell-host-micr…
