Siobhan Baillie, Anthony Browne, Alex Chalk, Robin Walker, Penny Mordaunt, Virginia Crosbie, Anna Firth - all of them a loss to their constituencies and to Parliament, but I hope not to Conservatives.

I think that, rather than aim to announce a new leader at Conference, Conservatives should use it as the platform to hear from the leadership contenders, and have some actual open debates.

The Standard used to be a great campaigning local paper - I remember its knife crime & literacy campaigns. Who will now scrutinise City Hall and London’s 32 councils? There’s now no proper paper for London, which is terrible
